The Situation
OAF Construction Corp. is a licensed Calgary general contractor. Basement developments, legal secondary suites, custom builds — the kind of projects that run $60,000 to $90,000 and require a homeowner to trust you completely before they sign.
Their work was excellent. Their reputation with past clients was strong. But online, they did not exist.
No website. No Google Business Profile. No presence anywhere a potential customer would look when they typed “basement development calgary” or “contractors with financing.” Those searches were happening thousands of times a month. OAF was invisible for all of them.
Meanwhile, competitors with mediocre work and average reputations were answering every one of those calls — because they showed up and OAF didn’t.
What We Built
Foundation first
We started with a full competitive audit in March 2026. Who was ranking for OAF’s core keywords, what their sites looked like, and where the gaps were.
The finding: most competitors had outdated websites, thin content, and no local SEO strategy. The Calgary contractor market had a wide-open lane for any operator willing to show up properly online.
We built OAF a new high-performance website — fast, conversion-built, structured around what customers search for. Not a brochure. An engine.
Local SEO: own the keywords that matter
Google Business Profile fully built and optimized — service areas, categories, photos, Q&A, everything a customer needs to choose OAF over a competitor.
Content strategy built around the keywords OAF’s customers actually use:
Secondary suite programs — OAF now ranks in the top 3–10 for the entire SSIP (Secondary Suite Incentive Program) cluster in Calgary. This is a first-mover advantage: thousands of homeowners are searching for how to build a legal secondary suite and access city incentives, and OAF is the contractor they find.
Basement development — Ranking and climbing across “basement development calgary”, “calgary basement development”, and every cost/permit variant in the cluster. The target searches are 700–1,300 per month. OAF’s page exists where it didn’t before.
Financing — OAF offers flexible payment options. “Contractors with financing” and “contractors who finance” are live searches with low competition. OAF ranks for both. Competitors who offer the same thing but don’t talk about it online lose those leads every day.
Dedicated landing pages built for each cluster. LocalBusiness schema, FAQ schema, internal link structure — all wired from launch day so Google understood what OAF does and who it serves.
Paid advertising
Four campaigns launched across Meta: SSIP legal suite lead gen, custom garage builds, commercial tenant improvements, and basement development. Targeting built around Calgary homeowners and property investors, not a broad audience that wastes budget.
Google Ads in parallel — service-area targeting, high-intent keywords only, a full negative keyword list before the first dollar spent. Every ad goes to a dedicated landing page, not the homepage. Every conversion — phone call, form submission — tracked back to which campaign drove it.
Maya: AI-powered lead follow-up
The fastest way to lose a renovation lead is to call them back two hours later. By then, they’ve already booked a site visit with whoever called them in the first few minutes.
We built Maya — OAF’s custom AI receptionist — on top of Twilio. When a lead comes in, Maya calls them back within 30 seconds. She qualifies the job (type, timeline, location, budget), answers basic questions about OAF’s services, and hands off a complete lead summary before any human gets involved.
Leads that don’t pick up get an SMS. If they still don’t respond, they enter a follow-up cadence: day 1, day 3, day 7. All automated. All done before OAF’s morning coffee.
The result: OAF responds to every single lead faster than any competitor — at any hour, including evenings and weekends when homeowners are actually making these decisions.

OAF went from zero online presence to page one rankings, tracked inbound enquiries, and a pipeline of the exact type of jobs they want — legal secondary suites, basement developments, projects in the $60,000–$90,000 range — within 90 days of launch.
